AFTERSHOCK takes part in the mission of FBC Manning by coming alongside parents to disciple students in the ways and trusts of the Lord. It is our goal to anchor students in God’s word and help cultivate godly relationships amongst young believers.

Annual and Monthly Activities

Mission Trip

Each summer our students go on a mission trip through various organizations. Most mission trips consist of small construction/service projects that serve as an opportunity for our students to share the gospel with the people of that community.

Look Up Lodge Camp

Each summer our students attend Look Up Lodge camp in Travelers Rest, SC. The goal of this camp is fellowship with other young believers and a time of concentrated focus on God’s word.

Spring and Fall Retreats

Throughout the school year, our students go on two retreats for a weekend. We hold one retreat in the Spring (usually in March) and another in the fall (usually in October). The location of our retreats varies from year to year. We hold some locally, while others are held elsewhere (i.e. in the mountains). The goal of these retreats is to pull students out of the routine of life to spend time focused on God’s word and fellowship with their peers.

Monthly Activities

In addition to our annual events and weekly AFTERSHOCK meetings, our students also participate in monthly activities which include but are not limited to:

  • Restaurant Trips
  • Lake Day
  • Carowinds
  • Cookouts
  • Fundraisers for Trips
  • Christmas Party
  • Paintball

AFTERSHOCK

Aftershock is our weekly “youth group” meeting for 6th-12th graders in the youth room at FBC Manning. We seek to provide a time where students can develop relationships with their peers as well as a time where students can grow in their faith through Bible study.

What exactly do we do at AFTERSHOCK?

Hang-Out Time

This is a time for our youth to hang-out, have a soda or snack, play
ping-pong, foosball, and other games.

Bible Study

This is a time when our youth minister teaches from God’s word. We usually work through different study series such as “God and Culture” as well as individual books of the Bible.

“And you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” Acts 1:8
